You know that feeling when you feel an itch and just can’t help but scratch it? Well that’s NOT how I felt about travel. I loved the idea of traveling but the actual logistics of airports, hotels, walking around aimlessly, umm not so much. I just imagined, maybe a weekend trip to Miami, a trip to Hawaii for my honeymoon and that was about it. I am here to share my travel tips and tricks to get you along the way.
I was playing small? Can you relate?
The Motivation to Travel:
It was that I didn’t see myself in far off locations. To be honest, I didn’t have the motivation. It wasn’t until I met a group of friends that opened my eyes to the wonders of the world. But what made me travel wasn’t just the sights, it was the moments and conversations we had. You know how you have friends and you chat but, on a trip you really get to know each other. Good, bad, or ugly it’s the truth! I always leave with a renewed sense of how small our world really is.
I make a connection with someone new or have an experience that reminds me of my life back home. Even with language barriers, I met strangers who are willing to help. Travel brings you the conclusion of how easy it is.
Healthy Foods to Look for When Travel:
And one of the biggest factors, I was still able to eat! Yes, eat with me (dairy, gluten, fried foods, low Fodmap diet etc free). Basically all the foods people would indulge in a vacation. I had to take my lifestyle with me, everywhere I go. Was it possible? Well so far, so good. Real foods, simple ingredients, and sticking to foods I recognize has been key. Plus my favorite app, The Monash University, Fodmap app, that tracks foods that easier for the small intestine to digest (therefore decreasing gas and bloating). I felt like Dorcas the Explorer!
To more adventures, deep conversations, exploration, and most importantly the freedom that comes from travel, big or small.
