A Well Mom is a Happy Mom

Mother’s Day is one of my all time favorite holidays. We get to celebrate the kindness and goodness of our mother’s. It doesn’t get any better. The person who loved us before, we even knew ourselves. We always want our love ones to live as long as they can. This year, I decided to share a small gift of wellness with my mom. I had many ideas but knew I had to keep “watch” of my gift.

History of Wellness

In my family we definitely know the steps to try be our healthier selves. But it’s always easier said then done, as well know.  I remember different family members trying Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, and all the latest diet plans that came out. These diets do work for many but, a true lifestyle change is what is really needed. I would say that in the last 15 years, especially after my grandmother’s passing we all examined our relationship with ourselves and how to take care of ourselves.

I would love to say, I just joined on the health journey because I wanted to and just listen to my body. Not! I started feeling the severe symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome and my life changed from there. After changing my diet, I finally started integrating yoga and meditation practices to keep my body balanced. My journey was definitely of force and not by choice.

Watch of Wellness

So I know we have heard about these new “health watches” that can help track blood sugar, along with many other things. I wanted to find something for my mom that was simple but comprehensive. I compared and shopped around, as usual. I saw the watch featured on Chelsea Williams’ Instagram and blog. It really peaked my interest. I finally decided on the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active .

It is nothing short of amazing. It tracks you, from before you even exit the bed. It gives you a break down of whether you were in a light slumber, deep sleep, or awake at night. It monitors increases in heart rate to cue a response to exhale and meditate. It also can be sync to Spotify (which is here streaming platform of choice). My mother was so happy for her gift, she couldn’t wait to go on her morning walk. I hope it will continue to make a lasting change on her physical and mental health. So we continue to celebrate her role at the best mom in the world to my brother and I. Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mothers out there. Your health is most important to your family. We love you.
