For a traveler with IBS, the biggest factors in travel are the ability to be sustain their health away from the comforts of home. The sand, beach, animals, friends, family can not be enjoyed if you are in pain or discomfort. My stay at the Hyatt Regency Phuket was the truly a dream for a traveler with any food restrictions. But the
Hyatt Regency did what was over and above the requirement, which is restore peace of mind, and wellness begins the mind.
Food, food, food, and IBS
Let’s start with the obvious, we need to be able to eat foods that are body can digest well and keep us fueled for a busy day. The Hyatt Phuket had a beautiful breakfast served every morning at the The Pool House, for a breakfast buffet from 6:30am-10:30am. The buffet included a variety of dining including fresh fruit, salads, meats, thai-local cuisine, as well as traditional, American continental breakfast.
But of course with my IBS I knew that I would require some modifications. On vacation especially on vacation, I closely to the low FODMAP diet, to minimize my IBS symptoms. In the states, I can be more exploratory because I know more of what is in my food. It was perfect to have gluten free bread and muffins. I was also able to enjoy my peppermint and green tea every morning as well. I find that when I start my day off well, my peace of mind around my IBS will help me throughout the day.
The Suites & Accommodations
As soon as you walk in the Hyatt Regency, you hear the sounds of the ocean and light wind chimes. My guests and I were greeted, with special fruit drinks and lei bracelets. You can look at all the suite pictures from a website, but nothing compared to the actual views from the suite. I was in a king size deluxe suite, overlooking the ocean. It was a breathtaking view that was just priceless. The layout of the suites was just beautiful. The suites were separated into bungalows, that were on a hillside. The front desk service was always available to transport guests throughout the resort. The Sunset Grill’s food was favorite with grilled salmon and it was just impeccable.
I love the quote “To travel is to live.” It reminds me, that we have to slow down and enjoy a sunset, walk along along, and the beach. The Hyatt Regency Phuket provides the perfect place to just live.
